Empowering Young Learners

Our Elementary School Program is designed to support the whole child, providing a nurturing environment where students can explore their passions, build relationships, and develop a love of learning. With a focus on art, science, and hands-on learning, our curriculum is designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and imagination.

About Our Elementary Program

Our curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded and challenging educational experience for our students, while also fostering a love for learning and exploration. We align with the Common Core standards to ensure that our students are receiving a rigorous and comprehensive education.

Play & Wellness

Play and wellness are crucial for the development of young students. Our campus is equipped with a playground, a gym, and expansive green spaces filled with trees to climb and natural environments to explore.

Additionally, students are encouraged to bring their own wheels each day—be it scooters, skates, or other forms of personal mobility devices. This not only enhances their physical activity but also adds an element of fun and independence to their daily routines.

Wellness at Lighthouse Prep extends beyond physical health, incorporating emotional and mental well-being into our daily routines. We integrate mindfulness activities, wellness checks, and a supportive atmosphere where students can express their emotions and learn to navigate their feelings through positive communication and self-regulation strategies.

Math, Science, Chess & Coding

We use a unique approach to teaching math through stories with the Life of Fred curriculum. By exploring math concepts through narrative, students develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and their real-world applications.

Our science curriculum is designed to be hands-on and engaging, with nature studies at the park, science unit studies and experiments, classroom gardens, and trips to places like the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Atlanta Zoo, and the Georgia Aquarium.

We also offer chess and coding, designed to spark their curiosity and enhance critical thinking skills. Chess introduces our younger learners to strategic thinking and problem-solving, helping them develop patience and tactical skills in a fun, engaging environment. Our coding curriculum is tailored for young minds, using intuitive, block-based programming platforms that teach the basics of computer logic and creativity in problem-solving.

ELA, Social Studies & More

Our ELA curriculum includes dynamic writing projects, independent choice reading, storytimes with our favorite librarians, and more. We believe that developing strong reading and writing skills is fundamental to success in all areas of education.

We integrate a social justice, antiracist component to our curriculum, which includes discussions and activities around fairness, global issues, and world cultures. We believe it is important to help our students become aware of social issues and develop empathy and understanding for those from different backgrounds.
