Every school has its core debates.
At Lighthouse, one of the most heated topics - tied only with “Do we need more recess?” and “Can we get a class pet that isn’t terrifying?” - is anime.
So, I recently asked our students a simple question:
“What are the top anime in your opinion? Let's rank your Top 5 in order.”
Here’s what the teens had to say—unedited, unfiltered, and with the exact amount of chaos you’d expect.
🔥 Our Official 2025 Anime Rankings (According to Lighthouse Students)
Based on student votes, enthusiastic yelling, and dramatic eye rolls.
1. Attack on Titan
This won by unanimous intensity, not just votes.
Comments included:
- “AOT is #1, no arguments.”
- “Obviously.”
- “DUH.”
Honestly, correct.
2. My Hero Academia (MHA)
Beloved for the characters, the training arcs, and the fact that every kid has imagined what their quirk would be.
Top quote: “MHA is literally second place forever.”
3. Soul Eater
Two students immediately shouted “Soul Eater!” before I even finished asking.
And we get it, it’s “weird in a good way”.
Great whether you like spooky or funny.
4. Scissor Seven
Honestly? Elite pick.
It’s funny without trying too hard.
The fight scenes are “clean”.
And it’s short enough to finish in one chaotic weekend.
5. Saiki K
Saiki K fans are quiet… until they’re not.
Then they’re VERY passionate.
They watch it when they need something light, something silly, or something to play in the background while drawing.
Closing
We’ll probably redo this list in a few months, but for now, this is the Lighthouse anime canon according to our actual students.
If your kid has Opinions™ about this list, please send them our way.
Nothing entertains us more than an extremely serious debate about anime.
